Cherishing Every Blessing and Every Moment !

Gospel Reading

Mark 5:21-43

Jesus heals a woman afflicted with a hemorrhage and raises Jairus’s daughter from death.

Today’s Gospel tells the story of a father named Jairus whose daughter is ill. He wants her to feel better, so he asks Jesus to help her. People told Jairus that his daughter had died. Jesus, however, told Jairus to have faith and not be afraid.

Jesus performed a miracle and healed the child. She got up out of bed and was well. Jesus healed those who were sick and suffering, and he calls us to care for those who are in need. We show our care for others when we ask for Jesus’ help, just as Jairus showed his care for his daughter by asking Jesus to help her. We can pray for people who are sick or having a hard time. We can ask that they experience Jesus’ healing love and care. Let’s each take a moment to think of someone we would like to pray for.

We are fortunate to have people who care for us when we are sick. Caring for people who are sick can be very rewarding, especially when we help them feel more comfortable. But it can also be discouraging because sometimes there seems to be little we can do to help them feel better.

Jairus did something that each one of us can do; he asked Jesus to be present with a person who was sick. We can also pray for those who care for the sick, such as parents, nurses, doctors, and all people who work in the medical profession.

Staff joining together in prayer

We as a staff joined together to express our gratitude for the opportunity to teach, for the relationships we build with students and colleagues, and for the progress and achievements of our students.

Prayers were to give thanks and celebrate the milestones, successes, and accomplishments throughout the term.
