Lantern Lunches

It's not every day that our Preps and Year 6s get to share a hot meal together, so it was heartening to see the students participating together in Lantern Lunches today, with big smiles on their faces as they enjoyed a warming meal of chicken, rice and papadums.

Thank you to Phil Shanny and the Murphy's Café team for providing these wonderful opportunities for our students to share and try different meals and engage in meaningful conversations.

The students are to be commended on the way they conducted themselves during the lunch. They were polite, courteous and very accommodating of our special guest, Principal Damian Messer, who joined the group for a bite to eat.

Year 9 Market Day a sweet success

SMC's budding entrepreneurs turned their business ideas into reality with the launch of the Year 9 Market Day on Friday 28 June on the College Green.

Working in teams, the Future Entrepreneurs students came up with a concept and developed a product to market and sell to the rest of the school, and their efforts paid off, with our marketplace brimming with delicious goods including cookies, hot chocolate, brownies, cinnamon scrolls and pink lemonade, which were quickly snapped up by eager buyers.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to support our hardworking students and their business endeavors.

Introduction to cake decorating

The Year 9/10 Food Technologies classes have been busy baking up a storm recently, and we managed to catch them while they were decorating their cakes as part of their assessment task. Using basic techniques, the students assembled their cake shapes, gently applied the icing and added the finishing touches to their creations with lollies to bring their pieces to life.

Jump Off Day

We celebrated Jump Rope for Heart with a 'Jump Off Day' on Wednesday 26 June. Students were very enthusiastic to complete many different activities as they jumped for over an hour and showed off their impressive new skipping skills.

Thank you to our fabulous SMC community for helping us raise a grand total of $8,600 for the National Heart Foundation and well done to all students on their skipping and fundraising efforts.
