Class 10

What an incredible start to the school year! Room 10 students have been settling in beautifully, establishing routines in both literacy and numeracy that will set them up for success. We are so excited to share the learning adventures we’ve embarked on so far!

Literacy: Unlocking the Power of Words This term, we’ve been exploring how words convey meaning and how we can use forcefulness and emotional language to make speaking more interesting. Students have been learning how to combine words in powerful ways, making their sentences stand out! We’ve also dived into synonyms and antonyms to expand our vocabulary and enrich our speaking and writing.

Our phonics work has been supported by engaging SPELD readings and activities, helping students build strong decoding skills. In writing, we’ve been focusing on fine motor skills to strengthen the foundations of our writing skills.

Maths: A World of Patterns and Numbers Our numeracy sessions have been all about discovering patterns and relationships in numbers. Students have been mastering odds and evens, recognising how numbers follow specific patterns and how these concepts apply to the real world. We’ve also been practicing doubling numbers, an essential skill that helps build number fluency and confidence in mental maths.

Looking Ahead We are so proud of how our students have embraced these new routines with enthusiasm and curiosity! As we continue this journey, we look forward to exploring even more exciting concepts in literacy and numeracy. Next term will bring even more adventures, starting with Camp in the first week back—an amazing opportunity for teamwork, resilience, and fun! Following that, students will take part in an intensive swimming program for five days straight, building confidence and essential water safety skills. We will also continue deepening our learning across all subjects.
