End of Term 1!
Congratulations on a hugely successful Term 1!
It’s incredible how much we can pack into just 10 weeks. While the highlight of Term 1 is always the Summer Fair, it’s been equally impressive to see the progress in our learning programs. Our 4-year school review and the senior school Canberra trip were so rewarding.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Term break, filled with quality family time and, hopefully, some well-earned rest!
Canberra Trip
I am so grateful to the staff and parents who supported our year 5 and 6 students on their recent trip to Canberra. This year we made the decision to fly the students up to maximise our time exploring all of the wonderful highlights of Parliament House, the War Memorial, The Mint, The National Gallery and the AIS just to name a few. I’m pleased to say that the students were able to manage the hectic schedule and conducted themselves in the way we have come to expect at MPPS. A huge thank you to all of the staff and parents who worked relentlessly to ensure students had a rewarding experience.
The School 4-Year Review
I can certainly say that we are extremely energised by our recent 4 year school review. We look forward to sharing the finalised outcomes with you at our upcoming Education Night. We really appreciated the input of all parents who filled out the survey and/ or attended the parent discussion panel. A special thank you to Mary, Kerry and Penny who represented School Council over the three review days.
Footy Cards
Footy cards are back! Football card provide lots of opportunities for really deep and rich learning. Through collecting and trading children can learn about empathy, fairness, value, responsibility and respect. The challenges that arise for children when trading can become great opportunities for parents and teachers to foster powerful learning. We are encouraging children not to bring their ‘valuable’ cards to school as they risk losing them, damage or even having them ‘taken’ by someone else. We also talk to them about looking after things that are valuable. We also often talk to the children about fair trading and ethics. Trading cards is not that different from the business rule and we know how important strong ethics are in determining success.
