Year 7 Woodwork

No coasting along in this class

Our enthusiastic bunch of Year 7's are researching, designing and producing their own modern day drink coaster in our new whizz-bang woodwork area. Throughout the process they will learn how to safely use hand tools, learning the processes to produce a custom shaped coaster which will eventually be engraved, carved and varnished.

Year 9 Art - 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙙𝙖𝙮

Year 9 engaged in a still life class last week with Learning Mentor, Mark Almond, where together they studied various displays placed around the room.

 

Still life is a genre of art that features inanimate objects, often everyday items like fruit, flowers, or utensils, arranged in a scene. The term "still life" literally translates to "quiet life," and it emphasises the stillness of the objects depicted, highlighting their form, texture, and colour. 

Year 10 Careers Day Out

The Year 10 students attended the Careers Day Out in Shepparton on Thursday this week. The expo is a fantastic opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a potential career pathways with many different employers and educators on site to answer questions. 

Year 10 Chemistry

Year 10 Chemistry conducted an experiment to investigate the reactivity of different metals. Results included heat, slow bubbling, rapid bubbling and the metal dissolving.

Year 10 Agriculture

The Year 10 Agriculture class observed and measured live chickens today.

 

Unit 1 Sciences

Unit 1 science classes had a big day of dissections last week. The students were incredibly engaged and it was all hands on deck for learning in these practical sessions.

Unit 1 Biology

The unit 1 Biology class dissected Cane Toads to check out the body systems, and how they are packed away into those tiny bodies. 

Unit 1 Psychology 

Psychology students class also dissected lambs brains to locate and discuss the various parts of the brain and it relates to and manages various functions of the body. 

GMDSSA Winter Sports

Well done to our secondary school students who participated in the GMDSSA Winter Sports yesterday. Whether it was soccer, clay target shooting, netball or basketball you all had fun and represented St Anne's College well showing great sportsmanship!

Reminder: Year 7&10 Immunisations

Parents/carers are reminded there will be immunisations for Year 7 and 10 students on the following dates: 

  • May 16 - Year 10 Immunisations (Meningococcal A,C,W,Y), from 9:15am onsite at St Anne's College
  • September 8 - Year 7 Immunisations (HPV and Boostrix), from 9:15am onsite at St Anne's College

Parents/carers will be sent a letter with further information as your student's immunisation date approaches as well as a link to the online form which you are required to complete.
