Year 10 Tertiary Visit Day

This week, our Year 10 cohort had the exciting opportunity to explore tertiary education at UQ, QUT, and UniSC, where they experienced firsthand what university life has to offer.

UQ VISIT

At UQ, students engaged with disciplines like Marketing, Science, Law, and International Relations, getting a taste of what studying at one of Australia's top universities is like.

QUT VISIT

The QUT experience was equally enriching. Students participated in a Sustainable Design Workshop, where they built a sustainable bridge over the Brisbane River, and visited The Cube, where they immersed themselves in an AI-generated Great Barrier Reef experience.

UniSC VISIT

At UniSC, the focus was on more specialized fields such as Engineering, Occupational Therapy, Robotics, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Students were able to engage with high-tech labs and cutting-edge learning in these areas, including seeing robotic dogs in action.

Below is feedback from a couple of students about the day:

Maddie F - Being able to experience what life is like at a university was an informative experience, as it allowed me to understand how the university works and what it looks like. UniSC had a very modern design, and it was exciting to see the robot dogs and learn about dietetics and OT.

Jessica V - Having the opportunity to visit QUT was a memorable blend of hands-on learning and exploration of life at QUT. Engaging in a sustainable infrastructure combined creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness. It was then followed by a tour of QUT’s diverse and picturesque campus.

Learning about the achievements of past students, like designing the Architecture building and creating the popular game Fruit Ninja demonstrated what QUT supports its students to achieve. The student ambassadors shared insights into their degrees and were eager to discuss our own interests and aspirations.  QUT, being the "University for the real world," bridges academic excellence with industry-relevant experiences, and the day has convinced me to consider it for my future university.
