Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

We hope you had a relaxing and fun-filled break! It was fabulous to see our students’ smiling faces back at school, ready for another exciting term of learning and growing together. Term 2 promises lots of engaging activities, new challenges, and opportunities to shine.  

We belatedly celebrated Auslan Day which was held on April 13th. The aim of this day is to promote and increase awareness of Auslan and its community of users within the broader Australian community.  We took this opportunity to learn about the history of Auslan and revisited some of our favourite Auslan games and stories.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education: in preparation for the month of Mary we will be learning about the importance of Mary and her role within the Catholic Church. 

Mathematics: We will continue to focus on place value, specifically locating and interpreting numbers using number lines. 

English: Through the picture book, 'One Photo' by Ross Watkins, students will investigate the different characters' perspectives and the themes of love and grief. Students will revise the different types of sentences that can use be used within writing. We will also be focusing on plurals.

Auslan:  We begin Unit 3 where we will retrieve signs for cross your legs, sit, recess, listen, look at me and come.

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: We are focusing on personal and cultural strengths. We will also be revisiting our protocols for Upstanding: U have the power. 

Advance Notice:

On Friday 30th May, the Damascus Community will be undertaking an incursion involving Toys of the Past. On Wednesday 18th June we will be celebrating Mass with the Ephesus community.
