The passing of Pope Francis invites us, especially within school communities, to pause and reflect on the kind of leadership and compassion he embodied. He wasn’t just a distant figure in the Vatican—he was a powerful reminder that faith is most alive when it’s grounded in love, service, and inclusion.

Pope Francis often spoke about the importance of mercy over judgment, of listening before speaking, and of walking alongside those who feel left out. These are values that resonate deeply in at SJV where every day we try to build a sense of belonging, nurture young hearts, and support one another through challenges.

His legacy challenges us to be people of courage and kindness—to care for the environment, to stand up for justice, and to always make space for others at the table. As we remember him, we might ask ourselves: how can we live out those same values in our classrooms, staffrooms, and playgrounds? In that way, his spirit continues—not just in Rome, but in every place where people strive to lead with love.

Class Masses 

Class Masses play a key role in the school culture, providing a regular opportunity for our school community to come together in celebration. Each Mass is led by a different class, with every student having an important role to play. Parents are warmly invited to contribute by bringing a dish to share at a morning tea with families and students from the class.
