Principal Post

Dear Families,
Happy Easter to all! I am sure some of us were able to spend the last couple of weeks enjoying valuable time with family and friends! To those who only had the Easter holiday break together, I hope it was a special and joyful time! We were so blessed to have such beautiful weather. I am sure you made the most of it.
We return with energy and with a sense of hope as we begin Term 2. We trust it will be a productive term full of learning and positive interactions. In speaking with our students across the last two days, it it so evident that they are happy to see their friends and teachers again and to progress their learnings and understandings!
For some students, returning to school can be an anxious time and we want to work closely with these students and parents to best support your children to settle back. Sing out if needed! Our staff are well trained to assist!
Lenny our therapy dog will also be back at SJV next week and will continue to be here 2-3 days each week until the end of term!
Easter & Pope Francis
For Catholics and Christians we come back to school having celebrated the Risen Lord and Easter Joy. This year it is also tinged with sadness as we come to terms with the death of Pope Francis.
As Fr Andrew Hamilton SJ writes:
"At these times we remember how much our friends have meant to us and all the ways in which we shall miss them. That is so with Pope Francis. In a world that sees refugees and immigrants as a threat, disregards the victims of war, trashes the environment, rewards self-interest and cheapens religious faith, he has wept with those mistreated, pleaded their cause and preached a Gospel of joy. He has faced all the things that make for gloom, done what he could to change them, and remained full of hope. For that we shall miss and grieve him".
May Pope Francis continue to be an inspiration to Catholic and non Catholic alike.
Our students gathered on Monday to pray and give thanks to Pope Francis and will continue to do across the coming days. I know that many of our students are interested in the 'process of the election of the new pope'. A great conversation and learning for the family across the next few weeks!
Easter Prayer
May the joy of the Risen Christ fill our hearts with peace, hope and love.
May his victory over death remind us that nothing is impossible with God. May we walk in His light, live in His grace and rejoice in His endless mercy. And may this Easter bring us and loved ones renewed faith, deep joy and everlasting peace.
Amen
(Good Sams Foundation)
Our Foundation Students will sing an 'Easter' song at next weeks assembly.
'Easter' will be the theme for our first Class Mass hosted by 3-4 L on May 4th at 9am. Everyone is welcome!
