BSTREETSMART Excursion

On Wednesday 26 April, the Certificate III in Health Service Assistant's and the Certificate IV in Preparation for Nursing Students went on an excursion to RAC BSTREETSMART, held at RAC Arena.

RAC bstreetsmart is Australia’s leading youth road safety event, designed to educate and empower young drivers aged 17-25 to make safer choices on the road. It features a crash scene re-enactment attended by the emergency services, just as it would occur at a real crash site. The students also have the opportunity to listen to speakers who have been directly impacted by road trauma and talk with emergency services personnel.

The students made their own way to Elizabeth Quay and then we walked as a group to the arena. The event started with a scenario of a group of young people at a party and then the scene of the accident. There were several injured people in the scenario and the Emergency Services then attended as they would in a real-life crash. Police attended first, then the ambulance service followed by the fire department. After the injured people were taken away by Emergency Services, the scene changed to the arrest of the young driver who caused the accident. The scene then cut to the young person who was injured who was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and what would happen to them when they got to the hospital.

After lunch, presenters included a Trauma Surgeon, a survivor of a car crash and a mental health and wellbeing coach.

Busy in the kitchen

Certificate II Cookery students all cooked dishes from their culture to end the Term on Thursday. Ukrainian, Philipino, Thai, Chinese, Australian, Mediterranean, Afghani, Malaysian foods were all shared around. Looks amazing!

Year 11 and 12 Food Science Technology students learnt how to make coffees and hot chocolates this term, delivering them to staff on Thursdays and Fridays.

Students produced some amazing creations in the kitchen this term, check it out!

Easter Egg hunt

Chocolate was enjoyed by all at an Easter Egg Hunt on Wednesday. We hope you have a lovely and safe Easter during the school holidays!

Swimming Lessons

Our IEC students, some who had never even swum before, participated in swimming lessons this turn. We loved to see their enthusiasm and joy and we encourage our students to continue their lessons, with water safety such a critical skill to have!
