It is hard to believe how quickly the year has passed. From exploring Fairness in Term One to celebrating our Love of Learning in Term Two and strengthening our Perseverance in Term Three, we concluded the year by growing in Hope. Throughout these units, students have continued to develop their Character Strengths—showing kindness, curiosity, resilience and a genuine commitment to becoming the best version of themselves.

The Healthy Mind Platter

The Healthy Mind Platter is a framework by Dr. Daniel Siegel and David Rock, outlining seven daily mental activities that act as "nutrients" for optimal brain function and wellbeing.

Try some practical activities over the Summer Holidays, using the Healthy Mind Platter:

  • Sleep Time → Keep wake-ups consistent (±1 hr); use blackout curtains and calming bedtime routines.
  • Physical Time → Walks, dance breaks, backyard obstacle courses, pool play.
  • Focus Time → Puzzles, Lego builds, writing/drawing stories, cooking with a recipe.
  • Play Time → Messy play, pretend games, unstructured Lego or crafts.
  • Connecting Time → Family meals, calls with grandparents, “kindness missions.”
  • Time In → Try guided breathing, emotion card games, feelings journaling.
  • Down Time → Hammock time, cloud watching, quiet snacking on the couch.

You don’t need to “fit everything in” every day. Just keeping an eye on balance can go a long way in supporting your wellbeing.
