A Message from the Assistant Principal

As we approach the end of another school year, our hearts are full of gratitude. This semester has brought celebrations, challenges, growth and countless moments that remind us why we do what we do: building a strong, supportive community where students feel they belong.

Thank you for being part of our story.

As summer arrives and we all take time to rest and recharge, we carry these moments of learning and connection with us. We are excited for the year ahead and the new opportunities it will bring. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, enjoying a well-deserved break, or preparing for new adventures, we wish you a safe and joyful summer shared with the people you love.

To our students, your kindness, humour and determination have shone brightly this semester. Continue to be curious, compassionate and courageous. We are proud of you.

SUMMER READING/ SUMMER FUN

While the Summer Holidays offer a valuable chance to rest, they also provide wonderful opportunities for continued growth. Learning can stay active through everyday experiences such as cooking, playing board games, exploring nature, writing postcards or journals and involving children in real-life problem-solving.

Reading remains one of the most powerful ways to support your child’s learning. We encourage families to:

  • enjoy daily reading together
  • visit your local library
  • explore a range of books, magazines or audiobooks
  • talk about stories, characters and new vocabulary

These small, enjoyable habits help strengthen creativity, language, numeracy and critical thinking, ensuring students return confident and ready for a new year of learning.

Cumberland City Council Library also offer a wide range of programs for children to stay connected and foster a love of reading during the holidays.

You can explore their programs here: Cumberland Library Programs for Children https://www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/library-programs-children

GRATITUDE

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.” John’s Gospel

Gratitude is more than something we express at the end of the year; it is the foundation of our community’s strength. When we appreciate and care for one another, we create the conditions for trust, growth, and belonging to flourish.

Thank you for making St Margaret Mary’s a place where every person is valued, supported and loved.

In Christ
