Science News
Grade 1/2 – Push & Pull
This term in science, students explored how things move and change. They experimented with pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and stretching clay to see how its shape can change. Students also investigated floating and sinking, testing different objects in water and discovering how changing an object’s shape can help it float. They learned about what happens when objects are pushed under water and how air around us can affect how things move and fall.
Grade 3/4 – Smooth Moves
This term, students explored how different forces make things move. They investigated how pushes, pulls, and friction affect movement, and how different surfaces can make objects speed up or slow down. Students also learned about gravity and how it pulls objects toward the ground. They experimented with using different amounts of force to see how it changes an object’s movement.
Grade 5/6 – Light Shows
This term, students have been investigating light—how it moves, forms shadows, and changes when it is reflected, bent, or absorbed. They have explored how the position of a light source affects shadows and have sorted materials according to how much light passes through them. Their findings have been recorded through drawings and explanations.
Grade 5/6 plushies
The Grade 5/6 classes have been learning how to hand sew, and have started a project to make a donut plushie. Everyone has shown excellent skills in needle threading and have been implementing any feedback they have been given. Well done!
