Learning and Teaching

LS3 MULTICULTURAL DAY
On Wednesday the 26th of November SFS celebrated Multicultural day to coincide with our Inquiry concept – Diversity.
It was wonderful to learn that here at SFS we have a multitude of cultural backgrounds and collectively speak 37 different languages.
After a whole school assembly where some very confident students performed dances and songs, we gathered in our learning spaces with our families to complete some activities.
Some of the fun included – Japanese Origami making, a Blookit on flags of the world, Just Dance songs of the world and making famous landmarks from around the world using popsticks.
SENIOR SPORTS
The fifth graders are becoming familiar with the following aspects:
- Reviewing the safety protocols from session first and second to ensure that the students are well-acquainted with them.
- Navigate the proper approach to entering a roundabout, including the necessary actions to take when vehicles are present, ensuring that you remain safe.
- Being aware when approaching certain signs, such as Give Way and Stop signs, is essential.
The students will do the above activities in an enjoyable manner, simulating the experience of riding their bicycles on the road while prioritising safety. It is essential for the students to communicate effectively with one another, ensuring that everyone appreciates the experience of cycling. Additionally, this approach will help the students build confidence in their understanding of what to anticipate while riding their bikes.

SOCIAL GLOBAL JUSTICE ACTION TEAM
Dear Parents and Staff,
The Social Global Justice Team in LS2 would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank everyone for their generosity in supporting the Salesian Sisters’ Twilight Market Stall. We began with a small goal to raise $60 to help fund the education of one or two students in Samoa.
A special thank you to Rozeta for supporting our Action Team and for reaching out to Sr Rochell and Sr Lavalea in Samoa. Thank you also to my colleague, Grace, and to my Social Global Action Team whose dedication helped us exceed our goal and raise an incredible $241.75 at our Market Stall. This outstanding amount continued to grow each week.
We would also like to thank Giuliana and her Mini Vinnies Action Team, who came together to support this meaningful cause, along with all the staff at SFS who opened their hearts (and wallets!) to help students in Samoa continue their education.
As a result of our whole-school effort, we were blessed to welcome the Sisters from Samoa to our school on Friday the 21st, where they accepted a cheque for $630.00. We were honoured with a beautiful Samoan dance performed by the Sisters, who travelled all the way from Samoa to express their gratitude to our school, staff, and community.
Thank you, Rita Faafetai tele lava!
