Cultural Studies - Ms Foster

Hello Parents and Students!

You may have heard that I will be finishing up in my role of Cultural Studies Specialist at the end of this year to move back into the classroom (Team 5F!).

I have loved my time planning and teaching Cultural Studies at DPS! We have such a diverse range of cultures here at Doncaster, and it is such a joy to learn about each other and share our stories! 

On a personal level, I have learnt SO much about the Cultures of our school while teaching this subject and feel like it has made a big impact on my life. I can even list the 7 items on the Haftseen Table....in Persian! 

I am so proud of the way the Doncaster Primary students show interest, respect and engagement when learning about other cultures, even if these beliefs differ from their own. It is a testament to their parents, the wider community and the staff of our school that our students are so culturally inclusive! It really is a wonderful place to learn!

I will miss teaching all the students in the school and hope to keep up with their lives while on yard duty! 

Cultural Studies will continue to be taught by the classroom teacher and specialists throughout the year. We will celebrate special cultural events, share cultural stories and encourage our students to teach us about their traditions and beliefs.
