Level Six

Graduation
Last week, our Grade 6 students celebrated their Graduation in a wonderful evening filled with pride, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments. Families and staff gathered to acknowledge the students’ achievements, reflect on their primary school journey, and celebrate the friendships and growth that have shaped their time at DPS.
Students confidently took to the stage to share speeches, receive their graduation certificates, and enjoy a visual montage of their primary years. The night ran smoothly thanks to the hard work of staff, student leaders, and our supportive parent community.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025! We are incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished, and we wish you all the very best as you begin your next chapter in Year 7.
Literacy
In Literacy, students have been developing their understanding of debates. They explored the overall structure and purpose of debates, learning how to clearly identify and present arguments for and against a topic. Students practiced using persuasive techniques to convince an audience and were introduced to specific strategies to counter or rebut opposing viewpoints. Through this work, they have been building confidence in expressing their ideas, supporting their opinions with evidence, and engaging thoughtfully with differing perspectives. These skills not only support debate but also strengthen their broader reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities.
Mathematics
In Numeracy, students focused on algebra, investigating both 𝑥 and 𝑦 values and exploring how numbers can be broken into component parts. They practiced creating equations and developing strategies to make equations true, deepening their understanding of how different values interact within a mathematical expression. This hands-on work has encouraged students to think flexibly and systematically when solving problems, reinforcing their reasoning skills and their ability to see patterns and relationships in numbers.
Overall, students have been actively engaging in tasks that challenge them to think critically, reason logically, and communicate their ideas clearly.
