Year 2 End of Year Newsletter 

What an incredible year it has been in Year 2! As we reach the end of Term 4, we want to celebrate just how hard every single student has worked. Miss Francis, Miss Murphy, Mrs. Stagoll and Mrs. Coumaros are all so incredibly proud of the amazing achievements, growth, and resilience shown by the Year 2 cohort in 2025.

This term has been full of exciting events and rich learning experiences. Students have been busy practising their End of Year concert songs, showing wonderful enthusiasm and teamwork. We also enjoyed a fantastic Athletics Day, where students gave their best effort, encouraged their peers, and demonstrated great sportsmanship.

One of our highlights was reading The BFG together as a class. The students were so engaged in the story and loved exploring our six comprehension strategies throughout the term. In Week 8, we all watched The BFG movie, and it was wonderful to see the students making so many meaningful connections between the book and the film.

As part of preparing for Year 3, students also began practising NAPLAN-style skills in numeracy, reading and writing, showing great determination and confidence. In writing, we focused on persuasive texts, using the OREO structure; Opinion, Reason, Explanation, Opinion, to build strong arguments and clear ideas.

To celebrate the end of the year, students from Years 2, 3 and 4 enjoyed a special excursion to Westfield to watch Zootopia 2, which was an exciting and memorable way to finish the term.

Term 4 has been incredibly busy, but it has also been filled with so much growth, learning, and laughter. We are so proud of everything the students have achieved this year.

We wish all families a very happy and safe holiday break, and we can’t wait to see everyone refreshed and ready for a wonderful new year ahead.
