Library News – A Term Full of Creativity, Culture and Community!
What an exciting and vibrant term it has been in the Library at Kambrya College! From cultural celebrations to creative competitions, our library has been a hive of activity and learning.
We proudly took part in the school-wide Harmony Day celebrations, honouring the rich diversity of our school community. The front entrance of the school was transformed into a beautiful display of our many cultural backgrounds—a true celebration of unity and inclusion.
In collaboration with our VET students, we celebrated World Turtle Day, Pirate Day and Bee Day in a joyful and creative week. Students were invited into the Library to sculpt their very own turtle out of plasticine as part of a school-wide sculpture competition. The talent and imagination on display were truly impressive!
We’re also excited to announce the beginning of Homework Club in the Library every Thursday afternoon from 2:50–4:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to complete their homework, assignments, or CATs in the calm and comfortable library space. A range of staff are available during this time to offer support across multiple subject areas—come along and make the most of this valuable resource.
Our Maker Space sessions have continued to inspire creativity at lunchtimes, with students engaging in both STEM and crafty activities. One of the standout sessions this term involved students building their favourite characters in 3D—a clear crowd favourite!
Easter was also a time of fun and festivity in the library. We ran a series of Easter-themed crafting sessions, where students made scratch cards, Easter ornaments, and Easter baskets. The term wrapped up with our first-ever Easter Egg Hunt during recess—an egg-cellent success with students eagerly lining up to join in the fun!

The Premier's Reading Challenge continues to go strong this term, with our enthusiastic readers powering through well over 800 books so far! It’s wonderful to see so many students engaging with literature and challenging themselves to explore new stories and genres.
Finally, we were thrilled to take part in the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 21st May at 12pm. Our very own Library Technician, Elyse, read The Truck Cat to our Year 7 AIMs class. Her engaging storytelling captivated the students, making it a truly special shared experience across schools Australia-wide.
The Library continues to be a place of learning, laughter and creativity. We look forward to many more adventures next term!
