A New Chapter Welcoming Pope Leo

The past week, we at St Joseph’s, along with the rest of the world, watched with joy as white smoke rose above the Vatican, announcing the election of our new Pope Leo, a humble and courageous leader shaped by the rich tradition of the Augustinian Order.

Pope Leo’s deep roots in Augustinian spirituality offer a powerful invitation to the global Church: to seek God through the restless search for truth, to live in community and to serve others with justice and love. As a man formed by the teachings of St. Augustine, Pope Leo brings with him a passionate commitment to healing division and walking in solidarity with the poor.

Pope Leo’s first homily as Pontiff drew on the powerful line from the prophet Micah:

“act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).

This message resonates deeply with our own Living Justice Living Peace Charter, especially its calls to lead with courageheal creation and walk in solidarity

In conversations with our students this week we have talked about ways we can take action in our community to welcome others and act with justice. Our focus has recently been on small actions that can be done to support and grow the collective power of our community.

Mother's Day Celebration at Kildare Campus

The power of community was very much celebrated last week as our Year 7 mothers, grandmothers and special friends gathered at Kildare to connect and celebrate Mother's Day.

The following day our students and staff were invited to wear a touch of blue in support of Do it for Dolly Day and to raise awareness about bullying.
