From the Acting Principal's Desk

It has been an absolute privilege to step into the role of Acting Principal while Anne Marie takes a well-deserved break on long service leave. In just a few short weeks, I’ve been reminded of the vibrant spirit that fills St Joseph’s - a community rich in history, commitment and heart.
We were recently blessed with beautiful weather for our school cross country event, and I want to congratulate all our students who participated with enthusiasm and spirit. A special mention goes to our winners - well done on your achievements!
Another highlight has been our Mother’s Day celebration for our Year 7 families. It was heartwarming to see such a strong turnout. The breakfast was lively and joyful, and the activities created meaningful connections among families, students and staff. To all the mums and mother figures who joined us - and to those celebrated last weekend - thank you. Your presence and care are cherished, and we recognise the collaborative role you play in nurturing and guiding our young people. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and we are grateful to walk alongside you.
This year sees us heading towards the 2026 140th anniversary of our school community. A milestone that speaks volumes about the legacy and strength of St Joseph’s. Thank you to every family who continues to walk this journey with us. Your involvement, support and connection are what make our school so special.
We are also incredibly proud to share the exciting news that St Joseph’s has been recognised as a Leading Educational Facility through the Australian LEAD Awards for Excellence in Building Design. This honour reflects not only our commitment to providing exceptional learning spaces but also the dedication and vision of so many who brought this to life. Congratulations to all involved! We now look forward to the commencement of Stage 3 in the coming months. Plans are currently on display in the Kildare foyer and will be showcased at upcoming Open Nights at Brigidine - an exciting continuation of our shared vision.
I would also like to take a moment to recognise our incredible staff, who model lifelong learning and excellence in their own professional development. Congratulations to Ruth Phillips, Sue Carrol, Jenna Laughlin and Claire Gibson on their recent graduation from postgraduate qualifications. With over 10 staff currently enrolled in further tertiary studies and more than 40 of our middle leaders engaged in capacity-building programs through the Brown Collective and Janine Stratford, we are proud of the culture of growth that permeates St Joseph’s.
As a school, we remain deeply committed to serving and enhancing the broader community - whether through academic and co-curricular opportunities for students, the development of outstanding facilities, or our staff’s contributions to local life through volunteer coaching, board service and more.
Thank you for being part of the St Joseph’s story. Together, we continue to build something truly meaningful.
Warm regards,
Rachel McAsey
Acting Principal
PS. A reminder to all fellow parents to label school jumpers for your student – labelled jumpers get returned to students, Unlabelled jumpers are handed to the front office and hard to identify! Help us to help you.
