A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE PFA FOR

THE MOTHERS DAY EVENTS

Thank you to the hardworking PFA for the fabulous Mothers Day Breakfast.  This was sooo well attended and it was lovely to see all of the female relatives onsite with the students. There were Nana, Grannies, Aunties, Mum and all sorts of others.

The joy on the faces of the students in the classrooms was great to see.  From cards to body scrubs, the activities were enjoyed by all.

Thank you as well to the volunteers who worked across the day at the Mothers Day Stall. Thanks to those who have provided feedback, we are already planning ways to improve as we get bigger and better.

Congratulations to our students who received 100 and 200 Positive Points!

What an amazing effort the students are putting in to their behaviour, effort and learning!  It was wonderful being able to celebrate the huge number of students who have reached 100 points already, with a donut morning tea.  I am looking forward to our 200 point event later this term.  We will be looking at some non-food related awards for students so that we can celebrate their achievements throughout the year, and would love your ideas!

Welcome to our new Education Support Staff

A big welcome to Brooke, Jordy and Mel who have joined our ES team to support our students with additional needs.  They are all working 5 days a week and we look forward to their positive contributions to our team.

ATTITIDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY REMINDER

All government schools must participate in AtoSS, providing the opportunity for students from Year 4 to Year 12 to complete the survey. The survey provides data that helps the department understand student perspectives of their school and to improve the schooling experience.

Data collected includes how students feel in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

AtoSS is aligned with the department’s Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0. Data from the survey are used to inform school improvement and planning to support student learning and wellbeing.

Parents may choose to opt out. Please email the school you DO NOT wish your child to participate in the 2025 AtoSS.

ANZAC DAY SERVICE

A big thank you to our captains who showed great leadership throughout our ANZAC Day Service.  The students were all involved, engaged and really took this as a reflective opportunity.  It was wonderful to see our captains representing us at the Botanic Ridge cenotaph for the Dawn Service also.  Thank you to families who came along for our school service, as well as those who took their children to our local services on ANZAC day.

Somer's Camp

We currently have 7 students off at the 10 day residential Somer's Camp, a government school camp for Grade 5 and 6 students offered to students each year.  We can't wait to hear all about their experiences, learning and recomendations when they arrive back at school next week.

Professional Learning for Staff

As a school that values providing the best, and most up-to-date learning opportunities for students, it is important that we invest in ongoign teacher development.  Some parents may have noticed that there have been staff out of the classroom at different times- these have been for a Numeracy Team day, a Middle Leaders Day and a Literacy Leaders Day.  These are all vital days where we look at the curriculum, ensure our scope and sequence documents are current and reflect changes and opportunities to develop consistency across grades in assessing student abilities.  They are also days to develop the leadership of those running our teaching teams.  Next week, members of our Wellbeing Team will be looking at how we can best meet the needs of our students in the SWPBS and Social and Emotional Learning space.  Additionally, we have 3 teachers currrently doing the theoretical workshops to develop their skills in SoundsWrite, our phonics program.  We understand that sometimes teachers not being in the class can be challenging for the children, but we ask for your understanding as the longterm benefit of these will make a positive impact on your children's learning and experiences at school.

Welcome Back to Mrs Halket

We have been missing Mrs Halket, who has been absent after surgery.  We look forward to welcoming her back next week!   Thank you for all your understanding during this time.  We know that at times there have been short delays in working through issues and we appreciate your patience during this time.   A big thank you to Mrs Hamilton who stepped in and out of this role throughout Mrs Halket's absence.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Cate, Rhianna and Karen
