Education Week at CPS - Week 7

As some may have noticed, the Department's Education Week is coming up very soon in Week 5 of Term 2. Education week is a statewide initiative to promote public school education where schools often hold celebrations, tours and open sessions to invite the community into the learning environment. After a review of our busy Term 2 calendar we have decided that Week 5 would not be the ideal time for CPS to hold an Education Week event, with a lot of of other things happening at the same time.

Therefore, we will host a special CPS version of Education Week in Week 7 (Monday 2nd - Friday 6th June). The main event for the week will be an open afternoon in session 5 on Thursday 5 June where parents & other special visitors will be invited to come and join in with the students in their classroom learning. More information will be provided through your Year Level Coordinators or see Kim if you have any questions.

Junior Campus Library

We are excited to announce the Junior Campus will soon have its own library!

We will be using the hall on the Junior Campus to provide a library space where teachers and students can go to browse and borrow books. These will include picture books and the decodable readers. This way all decodable readers will be in one place, making it easier to keep track and store.

We are looking for waist height shelving units or picture book stands that you may have in your classroom that you're not using. Also if there are any soft furnishing like cushions, things to sit on or decorations/posters about reading to make the place inviting.

Senior Campus BER Disabled Toilet

Please ensure when the BER Hall building is not in use that the doors are locked at all times. While this disabled toilet door is automatic there is an override key to open the door if there is a situation inside the toilet. The current key is being changed to a 1.1 for staff convenience. At the same time we are going to change the outside automatic door at the Junior Campus for consistency.

Recorders

Year 3 & 4s are playing the recorder this Term. Recorders can be played outside the music room during recess and lunch. Recorders are not played outside of these times, please remind students. If any student does the 'deathly screech' (blowing down the recorder hard), please confiscate the recorder and put it in Rose's tub.
