From The Principal Team

Hi BPS families,

Yesterday we celebrated so many incredible talents - both in the kitchen and on the Athletics field.

Four of our Year 6 students competed at the School Sport Victoria State Championships. Taylah competed in the 100m, Persia in the 80m hurdles and Taylah, Persia, Poppy and Mila in the 4x100 m relay. The girls had a long, competitive, and memorable day. They competed in their heats early in the day and made it through to the final for all events. These were held much later in the afternoon and early evening. They ran extremely fast in their relay heat (matching the State record!) and placed an incredible second in the final! Taylah and Persia achieved an impressive fourth place in their individual final events. Thank you to their families and Mr Joe Lilburne for attending and supporting these students. He commented on what a spectacular, disciplined performance it was from each of the students. This is a significant milestone to reach and we are incredibly proud of all four girls' efforts. Go Beauy!

Back at school the Junior School Council (JSC) held a JSC Cake Baking competition, looking for creative cake entries from all year levels. We were once again blown away by the talent within our community, and the number of entries we received. Our students certainly made it tough for our judges; Ms Kearton, Ms Cowie and Ms Palermo. The winners will be announced at assembly this Friday (commencing at 3pm) and we look forward to celebrating everyone's efforts. Our school therapy dog, Peggy, inspired many creations, as well as our Year 6 Wonka production. We even had a cake version of our BPS Kitchen Garden! There were so many creative entries to marvel at. Enjoy taking a look at all of our incredible entries below. Our JSC members did a wonderful job selling slices of cake at recess and lunch, which were enjoyed by many. Thank you Mrs Samantha Robinson who coordinates our JSC and helped our JSC members to organise and run this event. Thank you as well for your support in the kitchen and in getting these amazing creations transported to school!

This term our staff will be creating the 2025 classes for our students. Please read the attached letter, which includes a link to a survey that opens 9am this Friday 8th November, for genuine educational rationale requests to be made for consideration. Please note this survey closes on Friday 15th November at 5pm.

We had a significant response to the two surveys we recently shared regarding both communication and private music lessons at Beaumaris Primary. Thank you for taking the time to complete these. We were pleased to read so many positive comments regarding our improvements to communication processes this year, thank you for sharing such positive feedback. All of the responses and comments provided will help us to shape our communication plan for 2025. Further information will be shared at the beginning of the 2025 school year to ensure clarity around the ‘where, when and what’ regarding communication from our school (where to find information, when it will be sent and what will be sent via Compass, Stop Press Newsletter, etc). Feedback regarding private music lessons held at our school will be helpful in shaping what this looks like for 2025, too. We will be sure to share if there are any changes.

Thank you to the parents and carers in Year 5 and 6 who joined us for morning tea on the 29th October. It was lovely to connect with so many of you. Thank you also to the many parents, carers and family members who joined us in our classrooms for our Open Afternoon last Friday 1st November. We hope you enjoyed this time with your child in their learning space. These Open Afternoon sessions are held twice a term (on a Friday afternoon in lieu of our assembly), and the second one for this term will be Friday 29th November.

Good luck to our Prep to Year 3 students who are participating in our Junior School Cross Country today! We hope you have a great time and enjoy the experience.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Kind Regards,

David, Grace and Ellen
