Literature Circles
Students in Years 5 and 6 have been studying novels in Literature Circles during this term Students take on different roles in the group eg. discussion director, connector, word wizard. They prepare for these roles and complete tasks based on their reading each week. Thanks to our Library leaders for their reflections.
I strongly believe that Lit Circles are a great way to get younger people to understand all different types of stories. The book I got is The Grand, Genius Summer of Henry Hoobler by Lisa Shanahan. I read the blurb and instantly wanted to read it. I hope to do this again!
Olivia, 6Y
Throughout my years of Lit Circles I have really enjoyed it. I like how you get to put in preferences for what book you would like to read. There are different roles in your group. They are interviewer, researcher, open mind and a few more. It is really fun and I would totally recommend it. Chloe 6Y
Lit Circles is a fun thing to do. It helps with homework and gets you ready for high school. You also get to try new books that you might not know. The roles you do are really fun and it's nice that you get to work in a group. Isla 6Y
I strongly believe that Lit Circles is the best. It is really interesting and is an awesome experience. The fun and sometimes the difficult part of lit circles is reading on time and not going ahead. It helps to boost your creativity and get feedback from everyone. It feels like home as you can talk freely about the book and how it reflects your own personal life. I'm reading Bubble Boy and feel different emotions and gratitude. I love it and can't wait to finish the book. Jerica 6Y
Mathematics - Daily Review Challenge
“When schools, families and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more” (Henderson & Mapp, 2002).
Thank you to the families who emailed me about the discussions they had about the Daily Review. Keep the emails coming.
Here is a snapshot of some of the responses.
