YEAR 7

Year 7 Key Information:
- Student friendship groups in Year 7 are ever-changing. They have encountered students from a variety of primary schools, and class groupings are different in many of their subjects. Throw in the changes that occur as they enter puberty, and it is inevitable that issues and conflicts will arise. I encourage you to take the time to get to know who your child’s friends are and what their recess and lunch social play looks like at school. In dealing with social issues, we follow our guiding principles of dignity, empathy and dialogue, taking a restorative approach and guiding the students in ways to manage conflict and where necessary, helping to rebuild relationships to a point of mutual respect. The ultimate aim is to provide a safe environment for students and to strengthen the St Mary’s Community.
- Students in the Year 7 HPL Science class recently competed in the ‘Wonder of Science’ Competition. Congratulations to Josh Joice, Aiden Daley and Ben Machan, who took out third place, and Monique Bellero, Tora Nicolson, Charlotte Rowley and Brianna Russell, who received a Highly Commended for their efforts. It is terrific to see the hard work and efforts of these students being recognised.

- As we commence Week 6, it is important to speak with your child about their upcoming assessments to ensure they are setting themselves up for success well ahead of due dates.
- We are fundraising this term in support St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas Food Hampers, which will be donated during our Christmas Liturgy on the last day of Term 4. The pastoral group that fills the most washing baskets (Hampers) for the Christmas Appeal will be rewarded with a class party! We appreciate families contributing to our fundraising initiative to support those in need at Christmas.
Please Remember:- Donations must have an expiry date of at least January 2025.
- Toys and gifts are not required as other organisations handle these contributions.
- We continue to keep our Year 12 students in our thoughts and prayers as they head into their final week of exams. Keep up the great work!
