World Ocean Day 2026

WOW, what an amazing day we had last week to celebrate World Ocean Day! Ms T certainly showed she loves to dress up - who would have thought she’d come as a Clown Fish?!
All the staff came dressed to impress and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Anna had homemade scuba tanks that looked like the real thing. Miss Hunt made a coral reef hat that was pure ART. And Mrs Cetrola rocked out some fine looking garbage bags! Who knew they could look so stylish!
The day kicked off with an assembly in the Performing Arts room, where the ISIC leaders informed us about the impact humans are having on our oceans and the important role we all play in protecting them for future generations. Then it was time for the students to show off their costumes! There was a sea of blue everywhere and so many students had gone to the effort of dressing up as their favourite marine animals or people who use the oceans, like scuba divers.
Then we all headed off to begin taking part in a variety of activities all centered around the ocean, sustainability and marine life. The Juniors went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find 10 different sea animals and learnt about oil spills and the significant impact they have on our oceans. The year 5/6s persisted through some challenging Origami tasks and designed posters highlighting the importance of protecting our oceans. The year 3/4s showed off their creativity by painting beautiful underwater scenes that incorporated stencils of sea life. Our little Preps did some boogieing to ocean tunes and used playdoh to create an amazing underwater world. Our Specialist classes all had a focus on marine life or sustainability too!
What a fun day we all had! The ISIC team would like to thank everyone for supporting our 1st World Ocean Day celebration! Don’t forget the role you have in protecting our oceans and doing your part to be more environmentally friendly.
From the ISIC Team and Ms T
