Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We hope you had a relaxing long weekend and had the opportunity to recharge and ward off any seasonal bugs as the weather starts to cool.

Jesus sends the twelve apostles to proclaim the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 9:36-10:8

In this coming Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus shares his mission to proclaim the kingdom of heaven with his disciples.

The disciples are sent to continue doing the work that Jesus has begun. This is a moment of transition in Matthew's Gospel. The focus has shifted from the ministry of Jesus to the work of the community that he has begun. Matthew also uses the word apostle when referring to the Twelve. The word apostle means “one who is sent.” Matthew is calling attention to the mission that the twelve disciples are being given. They are sent by Jesus to proclaim the kingdom of heaven in word and deed.

Our Challenge:

As Jesus sent his disciples to continue his work and mission, so too the Church is sent by Jesus. The Church is his continuing presence on earth. Every member of the Church is sent by Jesus to contribute to this mission. We are sent to bring Jesus' love to our families, our schools, and our communities.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Last week we launched our new Positive Behaviour for Learning values that the whole school community voted on. It was an exciting mystery week as children and parents alike tried to guess what our values were. On Friday at assembly all was revealed and we announced the three new values of: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE! We look forward to all classes learning about these values throughout the rest of this term, and then next term introducing our expected behaviour matrix to unpack how these values can influence our words and actions to help make our school an even better place to be.

All students will receive a note today about how to enter our PBL Mascot competition. We can't wait to see all of the creative entries.

Wonder of Living

A reminder to all families with students in Years 3-6 that our Wonder of Living parent and child sessions are on this evening. The 3/4 and 5/6 sessions provide a gentle, age-appropriate introduction to growth, change and family life, supporting open and respectful conversations between parents/carers and children. Wonder of Living is facilitated by Catholic Care Victoria Open Doors Schools’ Education Program and aligns with MACS guidelines and Catholic teaching. The Parent–Child Night is held every two years. In the alternate year, only Year 5/6 students (with consent) participate in two in-class sessions delivered by Wonder of Living.

Please see the nForma notices or form for links to the sessions.

Prep Discovery Experiences

We love having our pre school friends come to visit and experience our school. Our next Prep Discovery Experience is all about physical education with Mrs Tobin. If you have a pre school aged child or a child enrolled for next year we'd love you to come along.

Year 4 Camp

Our Year 4s and their teachers are excitedly anticipating their camp next week at CYC The Island at Phillip Island. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures on their return.

World Ocean Day

Our school came alive with colour and creativity as we celebrated World Ocean Day! Students and staff embraced the occasion with an incredible display of costumes, featuring everything from shimmering fish and inflatable sharks to jellyfish, turtles and other amazing sea creatures. The enthusiasm throughout the day was truly wonderful to see.

A highlight of the celebration was the fantastic range of engaging activities organised and led by our dedicated Year 5 ISIC Ambassadors. Their leadership, creativity, and passion for protecting our oceans helped make the day both educational and fun for everyone involved. Students enjoyed learning about marine life, ocean conservation, and the important role we all play in caring for our environment.

World Ocean Day was a vibrant and memorable celebration that inspired our school community to appreciate and protect the beauty of our oceans. A huge thank you to our Year 5 ISIC Ambassadors and Miss T for their hard work and for making the day such a success!

Fidget Toys - A reminder

There has been a big increase in the number of students bringing fidget toys such as squishies to school. While these can be a useful tool in some instances, in most cases they are a distraction. We ask students not to bring these toys to school unless it has been discussed with the classroom teacher on an individual needs basis.
