Learning Across the
Junior School
We are incredibly proud that our Junior School has recently been recognised in News Corp’s Top 10 Private Primary Schools in South Australia for 2026, with Loreto being the only independent Catholic primary school making the Top 10. This recognition reflects the dedication and expertise of our staff, the enthusiasm and commitment of our students, and the strong partnership we share with our families.
In the Junior School, our staff remain deeply committed to continually strengthening teaching and learning practices to ensure every student is supported to achieve their personal best. This work is embedded in our weekly professional learning and year-level collaboration meetings, where staff engage in ongoing reflection, professional dialogue and planning to further enhance student learning outcomes and experiences.
Independent Schools Collegial Gatherings
Last week, we were delighted to host staff from independent schools across Adelaide to share some of the Student Wellbeing initiatives we offer at Loreto. Led by Jessica Edwards, our Director of Wellbeing Programs, the presentation was both inspiring and affirming, highlighting the many ways we support the wellbeing and growth of our students and families.

Lisa Sexton
Assistant Principal: Head of Junior School
Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time visiting the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council as part of our Inquiry, learning about community and government. Students took part in a mock citizenship ceremony and enjoyed participating in a mock Council meeting where they became Councillors and discussed important community decisions. We also explored the Council Chambers and asked many thoughtful questions throughout the day. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience for everyone involved!

Sarah Shaw
R‑6 Teacher
Our Year 6 students recently completed an amazing Chinese language task, creating colourful posters about the colours they see in everyday life. Students described familiar objects using simple Chinese sentences and colour vocabulary, showcasing their growing confidence in speaking and writing Mandarin. Through this task, they demonstrated their ability to recognise and use Chinese words describing colours, build simple sentences with correct structure, and communicate meaning clearly and creatively. Well done, Year 6!
