Cross Country Districts Success

Last Thursday 28th May, 37 Newlands students proudly represented our school at the Cross Country District Championships. Students competed in a range of races including the 9/10 Years Boys and Girls, 11 Years Boys and Girls and 12/13 Years Boys and Girls events.
All students did an amazing job throughout the day and represented Newlands with pride. Cross country is a very challenging event that requires determination, resilience, perseverance and a positive mindset. Every student pushed themselves to do their best, supported one another and showed outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the track.
It was inspiring to see our students challenge themselves, keep going even when they were tired and encourage their teammates throughout the races.
A huge congratulations to every student who participated. Simply qualifying for districts was already a fantastic achievement, and all 37 students should be very proud of the way they represented our school community.
We would also like to give a special congratulations to Valerie, Layla, Ramona, Winston, Ari, Lenny, Harvey and Marlo, who have now qualified for the next stage of competition — the Division Championships. This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of their hard work, commitment and effort during training and competition.
The Division Championships will take place next Wednesday 3rd June at Banyule Flats Reserve, where students will compete against the top runners from multiple districts. We wish them the very best of luck as they continue their cross country journey and represent Newlands once again.
A very special thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Zuzzanah and Adam, for supporting the event and helping our students throughout the day. Your support, encouragement and assistance made a big difference and was greatly appreciated.
