Supporting your Young Person During the Holidays

Holidays can take students away from friends and their usual school supports.

Changes to routine can cause some young people to feel stressed, isolated and alone. Parent support is very important at this time.

Below is some information to help you support young people to stay in a healthy headspace in school holidays. There is also some information that may help you to identify when your young person might need some extra support and where to go for help.

While you’re putting your energy into creating a positive mental health environment for children and young people, it’s also important to focus on your own wellbeing, which is a balance of the whole person, in all aspects in life – physical, mental, spiritual, social and emotional. A person’s wellbeing can change moment to moment, day to day, month to month and year to year. It can be influenced by what’s happening in a specific moment and the actions that people take.

Please take care of each other over the holidays.
