Year 2 Sleepover

On Thursday 14 November, the Year 2’s had a sleepover. Aarayv enjoyed how he got to sleep in his sleeping bag in the classrooms. He also liked the food; his favourite was the pasta. Isabella said, “It was a great experience sleeping over at the school. I liked Dazzling Dan, he was funny. He showed magic tricks and we all got to take a special wand home”.

Year 5 Semester Highlights

Our semester highlights include an exciting mix of learning experiences. In Christian Studies, we explored Martin Luther and his translation of the Bible into German, making it accessible to more people. To honour this, we shared the Lord's Prayer in various languages spoken within our Year 5 community. In our Unit of Inquiry, "Sharing the Planet," we examined how diverse perspectives can build pathways to harmony. We explored the causes of conflict, the role of individuals in resolving it, and strategies for peace. A memorable activity was the Lolly provocation, simulating unequal resource distribution, which led to conflict. We then wrote persuasive texts on creating harmony at school, using a variety of persuasive devices. In "How We Organise Ourselves," we learned about business structures by creating businesses for a Market Day. Proceeds will support ALWS’s Gifts of Grace initiative. Additional semester highlights included Book Week, Year 6 Science Fair and a visit to Davies Creek.

Thank You and Farewell

I have had the pleasure of serving this amazing community over the last 12 years. I have made the difficult decision to move to Mildura. As I prepare to embark on a new chapter in my life, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey.

From the bustling classrooms to yearly events, I have cherished every moment spent with our dedicated students and supportive parents. I would especially like to thank all the parents that have volunteered for Camps. I am deeply grateful for the relationships we have built and the memories we have created together.

Thank you for your trust, collaboration, and the many lessons I have learned from each of you. I leave with a heart full of fond memories and a profound appreciation for everyone in this community.

As I move on, I will carry with me the values and experiences gained during my time here. I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things this community will continue to achieve.

With heartfelt gratitude
