Transitioning into 2025

At this time of year, teachers spend a lot of time arranging classes for 2025 to ensure that students are placed in balanced groups where they can work well together and thrive. This process starts with students reflecting on who their ‘smart learning partners’ might be—those they feel they can collaborate with in a positive and respectful way. These partners may not always be their best friends, as there are still many chances for students to spend time with friends outside of class. At Good News, we’re fortunate that students are familiar with many of the teachers they see in the yard. However, we know that change can be difficult for some children, and they may need extra support from both teachers and parents. We encourage parents to speak positively about having a new class and teacher for 2025 so that children feel comfortable and ready for the transition when they return next year. By being principled in how we approach this process, students can embrace change with responsibility, respect, and fairness.
