Stage 2 PSSA - Oztag

As the coach of the Stage 2 oztag teams, I couldn’t be prouder of our students’ incredible effort and achievements this season.

The boys’ team had a remarkable turnaround from narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon last year to coming agonisingly close to playing in the grand final this year. Their growth as a team has been exceptional, with the boys developing a strong sense of belonging and consistently playing for one another. I am confident that with their continued dedication, they’ll have an even better season next year!

The girls’ team proudly wore their jerseys in the grand final against Dural PS. This marked the first time Roselea girls had made it to the grand final since 2019. Although they were determined to end the long wait, Dural proved to be the stronger team on the day, with the final whistle confirming a 4-1 loss. Despite the result, our girls delivered an inspiring performance, showing unwavering positivity and support for one another. Instead of blaming, they uplifted each other whenever mistakes were made—a true testament to their sportsmanship and character.

Special ‘thank you’ goes to Zara and Jude for their outstanding leadership throughout the season. Their guidance and support were essential in achieving such a fantastic outcome for the team.

Lastly, I’d like to extend my gratitude to the parents who came out each week to spectate and cheer us on. The frozen oranges, grapes and ice blocks were a highlight—not just for the students but for me too!

I am confident that our Roselea oztag players will bring the championship shield back to our school office soon. Go Roselea!

Roselea Cup

After four rounds of the regular season, Cook and Oxley once again faced off to compete for the prestigious Roselea Cup. The two houses had previously clashed in Term 2, where Cook claimed victory in the soccer competition. This term, the Roselea Cup spotlight shifted to Oztag.

Expectations were high as both Stage 2 Oztag teams had delivered stellar performances during the PSSA season. The final match lived up to the hype, with Oxley narrowly defending their championship title by edging out Cook in a thrilling 3-2 victory. A standout moment came from Finn, who chased his own kick to ground the ball in the try area, showcasing impressive skill and determination.

A special shoutout goes to Aria B and Sophie A, who were awarded the Sportsmanship Award along with a $2 canteen voucher! Both girls displayed exceptional leadership, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the competition, setting a fantastic example for their peers.

Finally, a big thank you to Mr. Yu, whose extensive knowledge of Oztag and consistent refereeing ensured the success of the weekly games.
