Sports Shorts 

Welcome to BPS term 1 2025 everyone! I hope everyone had some sort of break and rest over the holidays and enjoyed a pyjama day, day trips or family holidays. Our family celebrated Christmas and the New Year in our home state of Tasmania. It was great to get home and enjoy some fresh Tassie air with my loved ones. I hope this year is a healthy one full of joy and lots of learning opportunities for us all.

BPS Representative Opportunities for Term 1

BPS District Swimming Team

If your child is in Grade 3, 4, 5 or 6 and would like to nominate for our District Swimming Team, a Compass letter has been sent out with the instructions on how to nominate for this. Nomination letters and personal best times over 50m are due to Mrs P by Friday 7th February. No late letters will be accepted.

School Sport Victoria (SSV) – Team VIC Elite athletes – Grade 5 and 6 students only.

*If your child is in Grade 5 or 6 this year and is playing at a representative level for their chosen sport, they may chose to submit a nomination letter to Mrs P. Students interested in this should now have a sheet to explain this. This process requires a student to write a nomination letter and hand it in to Mrs P no later than Friday 7th February. Grade 5 and 6 students have been spoken to about this process during their Grade 5/ 6 Sport session on Friday 31st January.

Violet, our super cycling Champ!

Grade 4 BPS student, Violet, has enjoyed both track cycling, road cycling and mountain bike riding as a sport over the last 3-4 years. Her borther, Leroy, one of our 2024 BPS School Captains, is also a keen and talented cyclist. Violet shared with me last week some outstanding efforts she has had on the track with a bronze medal in the 2025 Victorian scratch race for the Junior under 11 age group and a beautiful winners sash that she won at Castlemaine for the 11 year females handicap final at a professional carnival meet!

Congratulations Violet! We love seeing all that you are achieving and the enjoyment you get from riding your bike!
