Relieving Principal's Report

Ms Maturana

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Happy Week 10 to all our families- the last newsletter of the year.

Thank you for a wonderful Term 4. Thank you to the amazing staff at Fairvale Public School. Hardworking, committed and passionate about supporting student learning. Thank you to our students, for your resilience, dedication to learning and kindness you show daily. Lastly, thank you to our parents for your support and engagement with school events. It was wonderful to see and connect with so many of you last week at our various end of year assemblies. I look forward to working with you all in 2025!

Sharing our FAIR Spirit with a local community organisation:

Earlier this term, Mrs Bruzzese planned and organised a successful FAIR Day, fundraising $1100. On Saturday (14.12.2024), Mrs Bruzzese, Sofia (2024 school leader) and Valerie (2025 school leader) visited HammondCare Braeside Hospital and used this fundraising to purchase an assortment of gifts to give to patients in their various wards. The Director of the Nursing Unit- Mrs Dearing, shared that this was a ‘special visit that brought vibrant joy with their presence at the hospital’. She sent her deepest gratitude to the organising teachers and students and the FVPS community for their kindness. We hope to continue this partnership in 2025.

Frankie’s Picture of the Week: Thank you to Dante for gracing the K-2 and 3-6 Celebration Assembly with your wonderful talent. A special thank you to Mrs Olivero for organising a student choir at each assembly. We loved hearing students singing ‘Heal the World’.

2025 Start Date:

Just a reminder that all Department of Education staff have FOUR Staff Development Days at the start of Term 1, 2025:

  • Friday 31.1.2025 (Week 1)
  • Monday 3.2.2025 (Week 2)
  • Tuesday 4.2.2025 (Week 2)
  • Wednesday 5.2.2025 (Week 2)

Teachers have been provided with this time to engage in professional learning and an opportunity to plan and prepare for the term ahead.

Organisation for the first school day for students:

All children start on Thursday 6 February 2025 (Term 1, Week 2).

Kindergarten students and parents are asked to meet under Big Cola at 9am.

All Year 1- Year 6 students will begin on Day 1 in their 2025 classroom.

At 9am, all Year 1-Year 6 students will be asked to meet outside of the hall for a welcome address and grade organisation. Students will find out their 2025 teacher and classroom.

We have spent time planning and ensuring a smooth transition for our students in 2025, however, classes may be subject to change based on student numbers. We endeavour to have all classes set by Term 1 Week 4.

Please ensure that students are ready to begin the new school year with the required stationery list and full school uniform.

To staff, students, parents I extend the very best wishes for a safe, happy holiday and a very Merry Christmas. I look forward to seeing you all in 2025!
