Zoo Snoozes
Last week, our students had a wonderful time at the Zoo Snoozes and we hope that the experiences were memorable for all. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parent volunteers, as we could not have run our camps without their assistance.
We would like to extend our appreciation and thank the following parents for coming along to our Zoo Snoozes:
3W – Amber Partington & Renee Mead
3B – Sian Barlow & Adrian Christou
3M – Julia Germon & Miriam Van Der Waal
Step-Up Day
On Tuesday, our students got a taste of what it will be like in Year 4 next year during our Step-Up Day session. The students met their 2025 teacher and classmates and learnt about some of the exciting events planned for 2025. Please ask your child to share some of their experiences from their Step-Up session, if you haven’t already, and discuss some of the highlights scheduled for next year to help ease the transition.
Kris Kringle
This week, a letter was sent home with your child about their grade’s Kris Kringle. During the last week of school, students are being asked to perform kind acts for their chosen person. They are also required to buy this person a small gift (it should not cost any more than $10). The gifts should be wrapped and labelled with the name of the person they are Kris Kringle for and placed under the class Christmas tree by Wednesday 18th December. The students will be opening their gifts together on Thursday 19th December. This is meant to be a fun activity to help spread some Christmas cheer. However, it is optional. Please let us know in advance if your child will not be at school during this time, or if you would prefer for your child not to participate. Thank you!
Fortnightly Curriculum Focus:
Reading: Reading a variety of informative and topical texts on Kids News. Completing some fun Christmas activities, e.g. poetry, code breakers, crosswords, etc.
Writing: Editing and revising an information report about an imaginary animal. Completing an end of year reflection/memory book.
Numeracy: Measuring and Ordering Angles, revision and Christmas Maths activities covering a variety of topics.
Inquiry: Endangered Species- What Can We Do? Creating a poster about a local endangered animal to help spread the word and make a difference.
Homework: Literacy: 15-20 minutes of reading daily. 10 minutes of spelling practice related to the SMART spelling focus or personal words.
