Performing Arts Term 1

Welcome to Performing Arts Term 1!

Prep

This Term will be all about the Preps exploring, experimenting and discovering in the Performing Arts classroom. As part of being musicians and performers, Preps will learn about how to use different instruments appropriately, as well as how to look after them safely. Through lessons and play, students will learn concepts of sounds and silence, as well as with fast, slow, loud and soft sounds.

In addition to this, Preps will get introduced to early parts of music theory, including recognising crochets and quavers.

Of course there will be lots of time for singing and dancing along to different nursery rhymes and some of favourite songs.

Grade 1-6

For all Grade 1-6 students this term, our main focus will be preparing students for their Harmony Day performances. The students will be practicing fun songs and dances to celebrate the importance of diversity and inclusivity, which are the heart of Harmony Day. Along with this, they will be learning about what it means to be a good performer.

In addition to this, students will be revisiting their rhythm and music theory skills. This will help them build a strong foundation for next term, when they will begin their instrumental lessons. They will work on reading music, understanding note values, and mastering different rhythms, all while developing a deeper love for music.

It's going to be a wonderful term full of creativity and learning, and I are so excited to watch our students grow and achieve new milestones.
