Visual Arts

This term in Visual Arts, students have explored a wide range of artists and creative processes.
We began by learning about Aboriginal art and symbols. Students viewed both past and contemporary artworks and discussed the meanings and significance behind the symbols used.
Over several weeks, they drew inspiration from these ideas to create their own artworks:
- F/1 students used Aboriginal symbols to share their family stories on brightly coloured circle papers.
- 2/3 students worked in teams to design large A3 pieces that told stories of animal tracks and family connections with nature.
- 3/4 students painted symbols and dot art onto pieces of tree bark collected from our MPS grounds and Middle Gully.
5/6 students created detailed and complex artworks inspired by Aboriginal traditions, telling rich stories through their use of symbols.
Looking Ahead
The next unit for Visual Arts has students celebrating the life and art of Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. Get ready for an explosion of colour and polka-dots!
