We are almost half way through Term 3. It amazes me how quickly time passes.
At the moment, Reading Groups provides a variety of activities including oral comprehension (via Behind the News), making connections with the text when reading, and practising oral reading to work on fluency and word attack skills. During Writing, we are working on writing creatively using noun groups (including adjectives, adverbs, and figurative language so the reader can visualise our stories.
In History, we are learning about Federation and the beginning of our country. In our PDH unit, we have had some great discussions on body image, gender stereotypes and discrimination.
After a busy few weeks working on Multiplication in Maths, we are now looking at Chance.
MATHS
Week 3 we completed our first part of Multiplicative relations (multiplication) and we used our detective skills to work out patterns using shapes and matchsticks.
This week we started a two week unit about Chance. Today we were very interested in decoding and understanding the weather forecast.
RELIGION
We are currently trying to wrap our thinking around just how many titles Mary has in the Catholic Faith! Each one reminds us of the different strengths and wisdom of Mary. Here are some of the titles of Mary we are investigating!
SCIENCE
This term we are learning about the Science of Space. In week 3 we explored the relative ratios of distances between the planets in our solar system. Whilst the Sun and Mercury were only 38 centimetres apart, Neptune was on a whole different part of our playground!
