ACS Primary Sport

ACS Primary Athletics Carnival

Our largest pathway event for the year is over. Overall, the carnival was a huge success, and we are pleased with how the day ran.

Firstly, thank you to the Sports coordinators and administrative staff who spend hours compiling the students' nominations, collecting permission notes, making phone calls, and returning calls, among other tasks. Thank you for all that you do at the school level to provide sporting opportunities, such as this one, to happen.

I am thankful for the support of our School Principals in also providing a large number of Primary and Secondary staff from various schools to officiate our events. The consistency of officials across both carnivals enables us to place the best person for the job and provide the students with the expertise they deserve. I am particularly grateful for the support from Michael Whitton and McCarthy Catholic College students in attendance. Your assistance with events is appreciated.

A big thank you to Craig Long and Greg O’Toole for sharing your knowledge and expertise leading up to and on the day of the Carnival, which is always a huge help to me. I am grateful I have mentors like you that I can call on when I need advice.

Recording team - You just keep pumping along in that room, it does not stop, and all the work that no one sees is nothing short of amazing! Go team.

The amazing teachers/officials for the day, you all ensure that you know the ins and outs of the event before it starts, inform the children of the rules and run a tight ship with all the events. I am grateful to feel comfortable leaving you as the leaders for those events. Thanks to Jen Maloney for managing to snap all those amazing pictures throughout the day, we all love them!

To all those people who just show up the morning of the carnival and offer assistance, whether it be putting up tents, putting the equipment out, checking the grounds, whatever the role (big or small), every little bit helps. Our superstar parents, who travel, in some cases, for a night’s accommodation, and continue to support their children in sport. To our outstanding students, it is a great honour to represent your school and family at a Diocesan event. I was delighted to see every child giving their best, smiling, and enjoying themselves.

Congratulations to Sophia McManus, Josie Wauch and Will Smith for breaking records on the day and to all those students who received Champion or runner-up results.
