Roblox - Did you know…

Last Tuesday I was fortunate to attend a morning focusing on student wellbeing hosted by the City of Stonington. There were a number of different speakers focusing on topics from cyber safety to body image.

One of the speakers from Evolve talked about Roblox, which is a very popular gaming site for primary school children. Unfortunately, as there are no age limits on the site, they are also potentially playing with older children and adults. So how do parents and carers find out about the potential pitfalls and ways to mitigate the risks for their children? The Office of eSafety is always a good place to start and they have a whole page dedicated to Roblox as well as many other gaming and social media platforms.

Another potential resource for families is the Beacon App. This is a free app put together by The Kids Research Institute Australia and Dolly's Dream. It aims to provide up to date information to parents and carers to assist them in navigating the ever-changing digital world. As you can see it covers a wide range of topics:

 Safe Crossings, Safe Kids

The Department of Transport and Planning has launched a new road safety initiative for school crossings.

The Safe Crossings, Safe Kids initiative:

  • reminds road users of the special road rules that apply at school crossings
  • promotes 8 safe behaviours at school crossings for drivers
  • outlines how to identify a school crossing
