From the Principal Class

Dear College community,
As we finish the term, I would like to reflect on the highlights of term 3.
As usual, it contained the myriad of sporting successes, the excitement and colour of Production, the music competitions and evenings, the maths and science competitions, the camps for Duke of Ed and Outdoor Ed.
The subject selection process took place, with our Subject expo - an incredibly well attended event.
There were excursions, chess tournaments, clubs, LEAD Day 1 in the city, and Languages Theatre.
None of this happens without the incredibly hard work of our teachers and the passion and enthusiasm of our students.
As our Year 12 students begin practice exams and revision sessions, I want to thank the Year 12 teachers who give so much time to support these students, with holiday classes and marking practice papers.
Also, to the work of our teachers to feedback and report on student learning progress, for creating a safe and positive learning environment for our students. For the care in providing adjustments in the learning to support all our learners.
We very proudly acknowledge the support of the majority of our community, in supporting events through the Friends of groups, but in supporting the learners and the learning program.
Our College was reported in the Herald Sun recently as the 16th best performing public school. If you take out the select entry schools, who take the top performing students, this would put us near the top 10 performing public schools.
A great achievement, but we continue to care for and support all our learners, no matter where they are in their learning. Our alternative pathway to the VCE, the VCE/VM continues to grow. And it is the opportunities outside the classroom that provide the joy, the memories, the growth as young people.
As I have often reported, we have worked hard to improve our classrooms, internal spaces and our outside environment. We know that there is more to do. I believe the environment is much improved in the last four years, due to investment in a VCE building, refurbishment of rooms, fencing upgrades and replanting of areas with native plants.
I thank you for putting your trust in us as a school.
I want to inform the community that I will be taking Long Service Leave in term 4.
I am leaving the College in excellent hands - Emma Ford will be Acting Principal in my absence.
We welcome Dean Moss (John Fawkner College) to an Acting Assistant Principal role working with the Middle School.
Penelope Cleghorn will oversee Wellbeing and Inclusion in the College.
I wish our whole community a safe and enjoyable term break.
