Assistant Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Book Week – Doors on Show!

Last week, our students amazed us with their creativity and enthusiasm as they decorated their classroom doors for Book Week. It was wonderful to see so many parents, students, and staff supporting the afternoon. Thank you for making it such a special celebration of reading and imagination.

Swimming Program

Our Foundation to Year 6 swimming program kicked off last week. Over the next nine days, students then participated in daily swimming lessons, including an important water safety program. Thank you to Angela for her effort and organisation in making this program possible. A huge thank you to all the staff and parent helpers who supported the program and volunteered their time.

Parent Opinion Survey

You should have received a link via email to this year’s Parent Opinion Survey. We would love for you to complete it. Whether you are happy with everything we do or have ideas for improvement, your feedback is valued and helps shape the future of our school.

The survey provides insight into families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.

While optional, we encourage all families to take part. The survey is open till Friday 19 September, and takes about 20 minutes to complete. It can be accessed online via computer, tablet or smartphone, and is available in English and 10 other languages. Please contact the office if you need support in accessing the survey in your preferred language.

Professional Practice Day

Last Friday, staff took part in a Professional Practice Day (Curriculum Day) and focused on the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. These opportunities allow our teachers to continue developing their practice to best support student learning.

2026 Prep Enrolments

Congratulations to the families who have received confirmation of their child’s Foundation enrolment for 2026. This is such an exciting time, and we look forward to welcoming our newest BEPS students during their transition sessions next term with the Foundation teaching team.

Year 6 to 7 Transition

Well done to our Year 6 students who have received and accepted their secondary school placements for 2026. Thank you to Karen and the Year 6 teaching team for supporting students and families through this important step in their schooling journey.

Planning for 2026

It’s the time of year when we begin planning for the year ahead, including class structures and staffing. If your child/ren will not be returning to BEPS in 2026, please notify the school as soon as possible. This information is invaluable for our planning process.

Hats at School

A friendly reminder that from 1 September, all students and staff are required to wear school hats during outside activities. It might be a good time to check that your child’s hat is ready for use. Hats can be purchased from PWS Uniforms.

Meal Deal:

Next week, we have organised a yummy special meal deal for students to enjoy on 4th September, in conjunction with the Father’s Day stall.

We will be having a Bakers' Delight Sweet and Savoury Lunch deal. Lunch will include your choice of a savoury roll (either Cheese, Cheese and Tomato, Cheese and Bacon or Cheese, Tomato and Bacon) and a sweet roll (either a mini custard scroll or finger bun). We're sure the students will love it!

Orders must be made by 5 pm Monday 9th September. No late orders can be accepted. Please order via Compass, CompassTix

We are also asking for parent volunteers to help package and distribute the lunches from 10am. To volunteer, you will require a Working with Children's card and to complete an induction at the office (once a year).

If you can help, please let us know via email at parent.association@burwoodeastps.vic.edu.au

Fathers’ Day

On Thursday 4th and Friday 5th of September, the Parents Association will be running the Father’s Day Stall. We look forward to celebrating all the fathers and father figures in our school community next week. Whether it’s a gift of cozy new socks or simply spending quality time with loved ones, we hope the day brings joy and appreciation.

We are looking for parent helpers to assist with the stall across both days. If you are available to help, please let the office or Teri know.

A big thank you in advance to our parent volunteers who are helping to make this a special and successful event.

Take care,

Teri and Edwina
