Principal's Report

Dear BEPS Community,

With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, there is a real sense of energy around the school.

We’ve been enjoying some beautiful days recently, and it’s been wonderful to see the momentum building especially as we shift into third gear for our production! We are now heading into the pointy end of the production process. This is the stage where those extra layers really start to bring everything together:

· harmonies

· instruments

· dances

· solos

Tickets are on sale from today via https://www.trybooking.com/DEQOI

We are in the process of installing the rubber softfall under the Old Oak Tree on Blackburn Road, and we are excited about how this project is already transforming the space.

Once completed next week this area will become another fantastic play space for our students. The upgrade will not only enhance safety but also provide more opportunities for active and imaginative play. It’s exciting to see these improvements taking shape as we continue to develop a vibrant and engaging school environment for all students.

Last week we celebrated a love of reading across the school as part of Book Week. Students enjoyed a variety of supporting activities that highlighted the joy and power of stories. A special highlight was the “Dress up a Door” initiative, launched by Aeisha and Edwina. Each class worked together to transform their classroom doors into creative displays inspired by favourite books. The decorated doors brought genuine engagement, excitement and pride across the school for both students and staff alike.

Thank you to the many parents who joined us on the day to share in the celebrations.

Your presence added to the sense of community and joy as we recognised and celebrated the importance of reading.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey 2025

Our school is currently conducting the annual survey to find out what parents/ caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education which is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of factors such as school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.

All responses to the survey are anonymous. Like previous years, the Parent/Caregiver/ Guardian Opinion Survey is being conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd.

It is open until Friday 19th September and only takes 20 minutes to complete. The online survey is also available in a range of languages other than English.

To date, teaching staff and education support staff have undertaken the School Staff Survey, and students in Years 4—6 have participated in the Student Attitudes to School Survey. As important stakeholders in our school community, we encourage your participation.

We are delighted to share that John Mullahy MP (Glen Waverley) will be visiting our school on Monday. This visit is a wonderful opportunity for our school leaders to showcase both our learning environment and our facilities.

During his time at the school, John will observe our new building in action, including:

· STEM spaces

· Visual Arts

· Classrooms

· Community Outdoor Learning Area

· Performing Arts

Students will be actively engaged in each of these areas, providing John with a genuine insight into the rich learning opportunities happening every day at our school.

This visit is a great chance to celebrate the work of our students and staff, and to highlight the learning environments that continue to make our school such a vibrant place to belong.

Celebrating student success outside of school is always a rewarding part of what we do at BEPS. Many of our students take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, building confidence, developing lifelong skills and excelling in their chosen passions.

This week we are proud to recognise several of our students who have been competing in speaking (Sathvik) and gymnastics (Janette, Lynette and Selena) competitions with outstanding success. Their dedication, persistence and enthusiasm are a wonderful reflection of the values we encourage every day at BEPS.

We congratulate these students on their achievements and look forward to following their continued progress in all areas of their learning journey.

Yours in Partnership,

Darren
