     Book Week: 'Book an Adventure'

What an exciting and inspiring time it’s been as our school celebrated Book Week with this year’s theme, 'Book an Adventure'

Pupils from all year levels were immersed in a wide range of activities that celebrated the magic of reading and storytelling.

Throughout the week, pupils explored the latest books from the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) shortlists during classroom sessions and library time. They wrote thoughtful book reviews and engaged in meaningful discussions about the stories.

During breaks and lunchtime, the library buzzed with extra Book Week fun, including colouring favourite book characters, designing bookmarks, writing stories and reviews, and listening to our Year 6 leaders read to younger pupils or host the ever-popular book quiz.

A favourite activity across the school was decorating classroom doors, turning them into colourful and creative displays inspired by much-loved stories, all in line with the 'Book an Adventure' theme.

We also had a special treat as our specialist teachers recorded themselves reading their favourite books, which many of our pupils thoroughly enjoyed listening to.

On Thursday, pupils brought their favourite books to school and shared them with classmates, teachers and parents during our open class sessions.

Thank you to all the parents who attended and helped make the day so special.

Foundation pupils enjoyed a wonderful session with their Year 4 buddies, writing about their favourite books and why they love them.

Students loved reading, writing about their favourite books, enjoying story puzzles and creating their own book marks.

Meanwhile, Year 4 also took part in an incursion with best-selling children’s author Jacqueline Harvey, hosted in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Inspired by her storytelling tips, pupils planned and began writing their own mystery stories about a missing Mona Lisa

Many of these young writers have been invited to enter a writing competition through the NGV, with story submissions due by Friday, 29th August.

What a fantastic week of creativity, curiosity and a shared love of books!
