Barwon Water Incursion

Over the next few weeks, students in Foundation to Year 2 are having visits from Fernando from Barwon Water. He is teaching students about the water cycle, the journey of water, and the importance of protecting this precious resource.

Year 1 Recounts of the Incursion

"On Tuesday at 10 o'clock, Fernando came to teach us about the journey of water. Fernando taught us to open the lid to our meters and that there were numbers there. People measure how much water we use. Fernando works at Barwon Water."

"On Tuesday at 10:00, Fernando came to teach the Year 1s about the journey of water.

Fernando is from Barwon Water. Did you know he also taught us about the water cycle? WE learnt about the big pipes that bring our water to us from the catchments. It was fun to learn about water."

🌿New Sustainability Signs Around Our School! 🌱

You may have noticed something new popping up around our school grounds—beautiful Sustainability Signs! These signs have been created to raise awareness and encourage positive environmental practices throughout our school community.

A huge thank you to OGPS parent Morgan Jamieson for her incredible design work.

📸 ResourceSmart Schools Photography Competition Now Open!

Does your child love taking photos and care about the environment? The ResourceSmart Schools Photography Competition is the perfect opportunity to combine those passions!

This year’s theme is:

"Sustainability Through Your Own Lens" What does Building a Climate-Ready Future mean to you?

Students are invited to take a photo that captures this idea and write a short reflection (up to 100 words) explaining how their image shows climate change adaptation.

Photos can be taken anywhere in Victoria—at home, school, or in the community—and submissions can be completed on student iPads in their own time.

To enter: Send your photo and reflection through to Mrs Earle on Seesaw, and we’ll take care of the entry process.

📅 Entries close Friday 19 September

🌱 Nude Food Tuesday & 🚶‍♀️ Active Wednesday

 A Friendly Reminder!

At Ocean Grove Primary School, we love finding fun ways to stay healthy and care for our environment. Here’s a quick reminder about two of our weekly initiatives that help us do just that!

🥪 Nude Food Tuesday Each Tuesday, we encourage all students to bring a nude food lunch—that means lunchboxes packed with no single-use plastics or wrappers. The goal is to reduce waste and make more sustainable food choices. Think containers, beeswax wraps, and reusable snack bags!

👟 Active Wednesday

Every Wednesday, we ask students to get moving and actively travel to school if they can—walk, ride, scoot, or even park a little further away and walk the rest. It’s a great way to build healthy habits and ease traffic around the school!
