Yard Duty Supervision Policy
The Yard Duty Supervision policy was recently updated and ratified at school council. IT can be found at the following link on the school website - https://lalorsc.vic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/YardDutySupervisionPolicy.2025-2028.pdf
The following section was taken from the policy, and it is important for both parents and students to be aware of this information.
Before and after school
Lalor Secondary College grounds are supervised by school staff from 8.30am until 3.30pm. Outside of
these hours, school staff will not be available to supervise students.
Before and after school supervision is offered on-site between the 300 and 400 buildings as well as at
the Dalton Road & David Street crossings.
Students who may wish to attend school outside of these hours are encouraged to make the necessary
arrangements with their supervising teacher.
If a student arrives at school before supervision commences at the beginning of the day, the Principal
or nominee staff member will, as soon as practicable, follow up with the parent/carer to:
• advise of the supervision arrangements before school
• request that the parent/carer make alternate arrangements.
If a student is not collected before supervision finishes at the end of the day, the Principal or nominee
staff member will consider whether it is appropriate to:
• attempt to contact the parents/carers
• attempt to contact the emergency contacts
• contact Victoria Police and/or Child Protection to arrange for the supervision, care and protection of the student.
Mid-Year Concert
The schools mid-year concert is scheduled for Tuesday the 24th of June. This event is a celebration of the students involved in the instrumental music program, and I encourage our community to attend in support of the event. It will be held in The Hall and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
UP Program
I had the pleasure of hosting Annette Spence – Assistant Principal from Epping Secondary College as part of the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leaderships UP program. Annette was on site at our college over a 4-week period casting an eye over our processes, programs and teaching and learning program. Annette provided valuable feedback and asked us all to reflect on our areas of responsibility as part of the program. Annette wanted to say thank you to everyone involved.
Having just completed my four-week Academy UP Program internship at Lalor Secondary College I would like to thank Corey for generously giving his time and knowledge as part of this program. I would also like to thank everyone at LSC for your generosity in allowing me to talk with you and observe the school.
Lalor is a wonderful, successful school and I felt privileged to be here for this time, in which I learnt a great deal about leadership and about the role of the principal.
I wish the school, and everyone in it, all the very best for a great year ahead, and a continuing successful future.
Annette Spence.
Student Free Days
There are 2 student free days scheduled for next week. Monday the 9th of June is the Kings Birthday public holiday and Friday the 13th of June is the semester 1 correction day. There is no student program on both of these days.
Once again, I thank the Lalor Secondary College school community for your ongoing support of your children and the school program, and look forward to continuing the success achieved during first term.
Best regards,
Corey Jewell
College Principal.
