Squash
St Joseph’s is thrilled to announce the introduction of squash as a new sporting opportunity for our students. This fast-paced, dynamic game has already gained great momentum, with ten enthusiastic boys embracing the challenge. Their commitment and teamwork have been exceptional, with each player supporting one another and showing genuine sportsmanship both on and off the court. It has been inspiring to witness their improvement and determination grow each week.
A special thank you must go to Adrian, whose generous guidance and expert coaching at the Muswellbrook Squash Courts has played a key role in the team’s development. Adrian has volunteered his time to nurture the boys’ skills, helping them understand the techniques and strategies of squash while creating a fun, supportive environment. We’re incredibly grateful for his contribution and look forward to watching the continued success of this fantastic new sporting venture.
Year 7 Sport
This week we commenced the Sport in Schools - Cricket for our Year 7 Sport program. We were very fortunate to secure funding from Sport in Schools for Term 2. The Year 7 students will be involved for the remaining five weeks of this term in a variety of Cricket skills developing both the basics of the game and overall coordination skills. The program is conducted by coaches from NSW Cricket. Last term we conducted a very successful Sport in Schools AFL program.

Sports Achievements in the Community
Rylee K in Year 11 has recently competed at the Torian Pro in Brisbane. The Torian Pro is a CrossFit competition that takes the best competitors from across the Oceania region. This region includes Australia, New Zealand and all the Island Nations that surround. It is a qualifying competition for the CrossFit World Games in America.
Rylee completed in the 16–17years age group where they take the top eight competitors. Just making the top eight is an impressive feat.
Over the weekend Rylee competed in six gruelling workouts over three days against some of the best athletes the region has to offer. He finished 5th overall with two Top 5 event places. Rylee's best event was a clean complex where he was able to lift 111kg and placed 2nd.
This achievement is remarkable and highlights the dedication Rylee has displayed over the last few months preparing for this event, training for more than two hours each day. Rylee has learnt a lot over the weekend and is coming home with more determination and confidence then before.
Netball Umpiring for the NSW Netball Cup - Primary Schools
The primary division of the NSW Netball Cup was recently played at Singleton. A number of our Year 9 students volunteered to assist our local primary schools in umpiring on the day. The local schools were very thankful and appreciative of the assistance from Ruby R, Koby K, Grace D and Sophie T.
School Athletic Carnival
The School Athletic Carnival will be held at the Bill Rose Sports Complex on Friday 20 June. A Compass notification requiring consent return and outlining the details in relation to the organisation of the day including transport details has been sent to all students. The Athletic Carnival is an excellent day providing the opportunity for all students to both participate in a variety of events and enjoy the community spirit of St Joseph’s. Our carnivals are well attended by our students. Athletes will be selected from this carnival to compete at the Diocesan Athletic Carnival on Wednesday 20 August at Glendale. The high jump event will not be conducted on the day, the event will held on the Thursday sport afternoon both prior and after the carnival. We are very appreciative of the Aberdeen Little Athletics Club who have generously donated their high jump equipment to the school. We welcome all parents to attend the Athletics Carnival at Scone. A canteen will be available on the day.
