Ministry Coordinator News

Blessings to you all: Last Friday week representatives of the school attended the Catholic Schools Week Liturgy convened by Bishop Michael. It was a lovely way to embrace out 'One Call, One Mission' pilgrimage of hope.
On Tuesday Year 8 students attended their annual Reflection Day themed, 'From Broken Fragments to Filled Basket'.
The day aims to communicate to students of the universal love and saving grace of Jesus Christ, by drawing them into an awareness of this relationship, students should be able to understand their unique and personal calling to a life with God.
The Reflection Day allows for spiritual awareness and capacity for service to develop naturally. Some ways in which this occurs are through:
The setting
The time set aside from everyday school life
The program of activities and sessions
The small group discussions
The relationships with staff and other students
Mealtimes
The prayer and liturgy experiences
The compassionate attitude and openness of staff to the process
We focused on the scripture reading - “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?” (John 6:1-14)
When we offer what we have as a sacrifice to God, great things can happen. Through our actions, God works things bigger than what we can understand.
Each one of us is unique in our form, soul, and spirit. We have all been gifted different abilities and skills by the Lord. As a result of being bestowed these talents, we are called to use them in service of the Spirit which has given them to us. There is a mission that God has for each person to love and to serve. Recognising these gifts is not only a personal self-awareness of your own self but an ability to uphold and celebrate what other people contribute. It is in this celebration that we truly honour God’s gift to us.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK PRAYER
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen.
