HORIZONS

Study Skills Workshop
Our recent HORIZONS Study Skills Workshop brought together Years 7–9 HORIZONS students for an engaging and practical session focused on building effective revision and study habits. The workshops covered a variety of study strategies tailored to different subject areas and learning needs.
Students worked through targeted sessions that included:
Creating a Study Timetable and learning how to effectively use their ‘Study Books’
Understanding and approaching Maths questions with greater confidence
Using Brain Dumps as a revision strategy in Humanities, Science, and LOTE
Developing a Knowledge Organiser to consolidate key ideas in English
One of the highlights of the day was witnessing peer-to-peer teaching, as students from different year levels happily came together to share ideas, support one another, and collaborate on tasks. This cross-year interaction created a positive and dynamic learning environment, where students could learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.
The workshop was a great success, with students enthusiastically reporting that they gained valuable insights, and now feel more confident and better equipped with study techniques they will implement into their own routines. Many commented on how helpful the sessions were in making study feel more achievable and less overwhelming.
We look forward to seeing these skills in action as students apply what they have learned to their academic journey.
